Question October fly fishing

Hello fisher peoples ,

I will be attending a wedding in Canmore on oct 18th . Looking to go a few days early and do some fly fishing . Gear, area, fly choice, tips, tricks? Any info appreciated . Would consider a guide if necessary....

Fly choice will be easy as 90% of the bugs will be done . Think streamers &nymphs bring warm gear. Season seams to be getting later and later you may get a warm few days good luck.

Thumbs up Grayling

Thanks, I will pm him. I do love grayling. Lots of them up here if you find the right creek. My new favourite pass time

Great time of year to hit the river.

I go after mountain whitefish a lot with #14 nymphs, beadheads, something with a bit of flash will get you lots.

I find October is the best time of year to hit the Bow for rainbows. Streamers at dusk, dark on top, light on the bottom.

You could also ask the friendly folks in Wapiti sports I believe it's called in Canmore for tips! I don't really have much experience fishing the streams up there. Like was mentioned, watch for fall closures.
