Not my cup of tea however nudists have been around for ever and body gawking is not everywhere.

Beaches in France for instance.

So what does it take to cancel freedom? Apparently threaten bombing and windshield breaking.

Nenshi said the city can’t protect participants.

How about a squad car with a cop in it? Rather than cower in the face of threats to freedom let’s look at home to the city running scared.

Do children frolick around nude beaches in europe?
Are kids allowed in strip clubs or R rated movies? Theres a reason kids aren't supposed to be exposed to adult nudity.

Furthermore, an event like this could potentially attract perverts who want to see kids naked.

Been going on in Edmonton pools for some time. Yes, I agree children should not be part of it as they are not of age to decide for themselves mind you there are places in this world that nudity is normal and the thought of a discussion such as this wouldn't even be considered.

Bullsheeet! It is a private club event and no outsiders are allowed. You have to be a club memeber to get in. These clubs are everywhere and very popular. Usually families with small kids, teenagers dont come.

What I don't understand is how there can be a nudist camp on the banks of the NS River with pictures of the members wading naked in a public place but if a person were to expose themselves in such a manner in downtown Edmonton or Calgary they would be arrested immediately. How does that work?

Nudity isn't sexual in itself, it is but a natural state of being. I think too many here are picturing an orgy when a nude swimming event is mentioned. Personally I'm not a nudist but I do think that it's wrong to deny a private club the right to engage in a legal activity. At least the Purple Prince is on board...

I would think the likelihood of a perv child being at nudist beach would be quite low considering most people don't take their children to such places. It doesn't work to take our non-nudist mindset and declare that it's inappropriate for kids (because we can't disassociate nudism with sexuality). Nudism/naturism is completely non-sexual and therefore entirely appropriate for kids. There's nothing sensual about it and kids brought up in that atmosphere find it a non-event.

I'd venture to say that we might have more pervs in our clothed and private environments than in those, just from the viewpoint that when things are transparent and in the open it's hard to hide your evil deeds or thoughts.

Hmm I guess that being a private club means that none of the members could be pedophiles. Newsflash there are pedophiles and perverts in all demographics and all varying levels of social status and not necessarily the creepy old man living by himself, to believe otherwise is utilizing the same mentality of sticking your head in the sand as those who believe that gun registration will stop crime. If a bunch of adults want to get together and frolic naked that is their choice but lets leave the kids out of it until they are old enough to make their own rational decision about the topic.
