Default Helix 7 Di vs GPS

Just wondering if anyone has any experience in these units. Is the gps worth the extra money? I fish alot of smaller lakes in central alberta so do they even have alot of the smaller lakes on gps or no?

I am not sure if your unit supports Autochart but this is worth its weight on uncharted waters. A lot of the reservoirs are not on the Navionics maps, and if they are, they only show as a blotch of blue on a map, lacking the detail of depth lines etc.

GPS is in my mind crucial when trolling trout.

A lot of the spinners and spoons if you look at the back of their package it will tell you the ideal trolling speed. Increases your ability to catch more.

I would suggest a GPS is a vital feature on all sonars.

Pretty soon you won't be able to buy a unit without one.

You need it to run maps, you need it to mark good spots and return to them, to mark hazards so you don't hit them next time you are out, you need it to know where you are (versus where you think you are) on unfamiliar lakes.

I would always recommend this as one of the key features to look for and have on your sonar unit.

I also say yes. GPS is vital in my fishing and a must for me. I would agree with others and say it's worth the extra money
