Ice out?
Was wondering if anyone has been over to check out Muir or any of the other trout lakes in the area. Curious to know if the ice is off yet?

Edges are open and ice is soft. We were out on one lake and you could break through 8 inches of ice because it was all rotten. By the weekend there should be some lakes that are open or partially open but right now still not open enough to fish.

There are some areas in trout lakes that are open enough to fish now so you just have to explore a bit.

Muir was open for about 100 ft or so around the aerator and near the boat launch when I checked on Saturday.

Ice should some off Wabamun in the next couple of days. It moved about 60' yesterday.

Fished Muir today after wheeling my canoe to the south aerator area for enough open water. No luck with all sorts of flies.
