Which lake or lakes you looking at hitting?
Great fishing at reed lake, just north of flin flon. The best fishing was up NORTH around Leaf Rapids.

I was up there last Christmas, the road isn’t that bad anymore. Just make sure you have sufficient fuel because there is no fuel stops once you leave Prince Albert. Bakers narrows is an awesome area. I would look into reed lake for a day trip as well. About an hour and a half north.

They're many fuel up stations along the Hanson Lk Rd. Smeaton, Caribou creek, Bloomfelds(or whatever its called).......just to name a few. Expensive.....

Some days my memory's get a bit foggy but when I was trucking/logging back about 40 year's ago, I seem to remember Reed Lake as being along Highway # 391 south east of Cranberry Portage. But I could be thinking of one of many lakes along there.

They are there but not open in winter. And I don’t go through smeaton. I take the cut across through candle lake. Trust me, I used to live up there, and still travel there often.

Trust me, not everybody takes the Candle Lk cut through. Caribou creek closed during the winter, I don't think so. According to their FB page.
