Hall was committed to constant partying till 3-4 AM

He was off the rails by the time McDavid showed up. He convinced Eberle to join him I think.

After so many years of frustration..... I guess you can’t blame him.
But he wouldn’t change once McD came on the scene.

Dude needed a fresh start and a cultural reset.

It’s tragic ... but it wouldn’t ever have panned put in Edmonton.
All GMs knew this. So we got what we got.

It sucks but oh well.

Here is my list, players who make less than Draisaitl who, if playing with McDavid, I believe would be more productive than LD:

-Rantanen;
-Mackinnon;
-Landeskog;
-Seguin;
-M. Granlund;
-Johansen;
-Forsberg;
-O'Reilly;
-Tarasenko;
-Wheeler;
-Scheifele;
-Connor;
-Laine;
-Gaudreau;
-Lindholm;
-Tkachuk;
-Pettersson;
-Horvat;
-Marchessault;
-Pastrnak;
-Marchand;
-Bergeron;
-Skinner;
-Huberdeau;
-Dadonov;
-Barkov;
-Domi;
-Stone;
-Duchene;
-Kucherov;
-Point;
-Marner;
-Matthews;
-Nylander;
-Aho;
-Panarin;
-Hall;
-Barzal;
-Giroux;
-Voracek;
-Kessel;
-Kuznetsov;
-Backstrom; and,
-Wilson.

I left out guys who are having pretty good years, such as Monahan, Atkinson, Meir who have 30+ plus points, but would be debatable.
Thats a long list. Some of those player must have signed a contract in the 2017. Of those that signed in 2017, how many had 75+ points the season prior to signing? And how many on that list with 3-4 years NHL experience would sign tomorrow for less than 9 million?

There is a strong possibility that several of the players on the list would play better with McDavid than Draisaitl, but the Oilers don't own the right to those players. My argument is Draisaitl's contract is not as bad as everyone thinks and in the long run (because it is an 8 year contract) it will to good for the Oilers.

Headed to the Oilers thread, that is where the action is tonight!

See that "C" by Leon's name? It's hard to have a discussion with you as some of the points your bring up are totally irrelevant or you are unbelievably biased.

Carry on.....

Isn't it a bad contract if you have to wait for year 4 before it turns into a good contract?

Would you happier if he signed for 6.5 for 4 years and then 10.5 for 4 more?

Personally, I'd be happier if he was running a Rattskeller in Munich instead of playing with McDavid...

How many on your list could make that last pass to McDavid?

Even harder to converse with someone who watches Oiler games with his welding goggles on. When's the last time you saw Drai playing C? Thought your case, however weak, was that McDavid, the C, was dragging Leon along in his jet stream..

Fyi on Draisaitl...36 points in 31 games. Trailing only Johnny Hockey from the Flames. Whadda bum huh.

Keep lobbing those knucklers Mr Niekro.

Umm...

Looks like Leon is on pace for a 97 point season. I'm not his biggest fan, but that seems to be a fairly good return on investment given he's still a very young man.

Really, watching with welding goggles on? Are you watching at all? He played center just last week......

Do you even know the point I was making? Baseball, remember I was just mentioning irreverent points you bring up? This is to painful, I gotta go...

He does seem to be having a pretty decent year. I'm not complaining though, I picked him up 93rd overall in the pool.

NHL lists Draisaitl as a center.

Not sure how they determine if he is a center or a winger but my thought is this.
First 17 games of the season he was primarily a center.
Next 14 games he was primarily a winger.
Will see if they classify him as a winger after 4 more games.

Prior to Nov 12 McDavid and Draisaitl played together occasionally.
As example
vs Rangers they were on the ice together for ~5% of even strength time
vs Capitals they were on the ice together for ~7.5% of even strength time
The rest of Draisaitl's even strength time he was primarily centering his own line.
These games are quite representative of "ice time together" before Nov 12

After Nov12 McDavid and Draisaitl play together almost exclusively.
As example
vs Canadiens they were on the ice together for ~31% of even strength time.
vs Avalanche (last night) they were on the ice together for ~37% of even strength time.
Presently, Draisaitl will occasionally center his own line.
These games are quite representative of "ice time together" after Nov 12

960 guys sure didn't like the assumed line up with Ryan on the second line and wanted to see Jankowski there.

I get the pleasure of going tonight. Taking a friend who has always been wild about the Flyers. Not sure how she became a fan but she is a ton of fun to take to the game.

I've never had any particular affinity towards the Flyers, I do like Giroux though.

I like our chances with Neuvirth and Stolarz and their respective .719 and .898 SA% but for some reason Smith is starting, so it might be pretty even.

Smith again hey dang, was hoping to give Rittich a couple games to keep his head in the game. I thought he played well the other night. Although Smith yikes he still freaks me out, but is doing better so maybe still allowing him game time now that he has been doing better.

I seen it was a 6:30pm puck drop tonight not 7, as a heads up to all..

Good luck Smith.

Found this video of him teaching others how to play his style.

Is Smith trying to give up an early goal by playing the puck way out of his crease??
