Default Epcor and HomeServe

I keep on getting these letters from EPCOR and HomeSense on insuring my sewer and septic lines on my property line to my house. Anyone here buy into this crap? This is the 5th letter I received from them.

Well I phoned my insurance agent and she said that she gets them yearly too. Most house insurance does not cover a line, whether water or sewer between the city sidewalk and your home if it breaks. Contact your insurance to be sure. I phoned the Home Sense number and spoke to the agent. It is 9.99 month for water and if you combine it is 23.99 month for both water and sewer. We had a neighbour back in the crescent who had to dig up his front yard to fix the sewer line. He said bill came to over $9000. Not covered.

I signed up for both.. I have 30 days to cancel, full refund. Pro rated after that. The first 30 days is no coverage, their way of making sure that there is no existing problems. 10 years premiums come to 2878.80 Cheap insurance if you existing coverage doesn't cover it. And it is being kinda advertised using EPCOR's name. Doubt if they would back a dubious company. WE HOPE.

Just my feelings on it as my place was built in 1981 and you hear of frost damaging water lines in Calgary every spring as the frost comes out of the ground. Could be your water line too.

PS: My insurance agent who is an agent with Link Insurance says that they are a legitimate insurance company.
