This is a very interesting video on what is going on in China , the ramifications of the new Chinese security law and how it could affect every country. They start discussion g the security law about 10 minutes in but the whole video is very interesting.

Its a lesson for Canadians
If you allow a government to slowly encroach on your freedoms, you will lose. They will take their time, over years, picking away at you, and if you allow it, you will never get it back.
Trusting a corrupt government is about as stupid as it gets. Politicians are no more important than anyone else. Remove them fast before the sheep are converted to follow them blindly.
Canada is getting there. And we are allowing it.

Everyone says we are allowing it, we are sheep, we bend over and take it. With the exception of a single forum member that spoke up and made a difference a few years ago, I all i see is a bunch of whiny armchair professionals constantly telling everyone how stupid we all are.
If you are so smart, lead the way. What do we do?

I think people are afraid of being the face of a public humiliation, or losing their job for their views. That and most people aren't natural leaders but would be happy to join in on a cause if it was started.
That being said I do agree with you, if you are so upset by something then act to try bring awareness/change

Great point.
First, we need to find a true leader. Not a politician. We have to break our pattern of recycling old political garbage. Finding someone who is more center. And they have to be willing.
To me, the conservatives are dead. The ndp are too extreme.
Basically we are looking to fix Canada for our great grandchildren. As for us, we are gonna take the brunt of this.
Right now, scandals are a powerful tool. We are letting too much slide. SNC, blackface, WE, etc etc
Trudeau could be on the out, but he is buying his votes by giving $. And it is working. Until there is no more $
Our politicians are in it for themselves. I believe Canada was sold a long time ago. Trudeau is just a face. Behind him are the targets. And today, it seems the only ones who could do something are the ndp and conservatives because the citizens are too busy trying to live.
Politicians are financially fine. Thats how they want to keep it.
Otoole/Mackay? Garbage. We need a leader whom we have to push forward, almost kicking and screaming, to take the lead.
