Default Anyone else hunting speed goats right now?

I'm finding small herds with one buck or single bucks alone but can't get them to investigate a decoy at all. The ones with a few does just round them up and leave. The singles just take off as well.

When is the best time to use a decoy?

Thanks

The calm before the storm....

The decoy action will start picking up in just a few days.

Try to close the distance to 100 yards or less. I saw a few big herds yesterday. No hunting today so scouting and maybe a bit of river fishing.

Filled my tag today! Grateful to all the landowners who allow access to chase this little guys around. Posted a pic in the Archery Harvest Thread.

Strangely enough we had a tough time decoying them, so we both filled our tags spot and stalk.

Default Archery success

Just got back from a few days down south helping my brother for antelope. We as well mostly saw single bucks chasing single doe's. Only saw one actual heard of antelope (on property we did not have permission on) after covering a lot of miles in the truck and on the boots. We did spot a buck with a doe and fawn bedded in the perfect scenario. They were at the bottom of a small hill. Wind was perfect. We stalked to about 75 yards before i popped the decoy up. The buck hesitated for a few seconds then came a charging in. At 12 yards he flared to the side and stopped at 28 yards (fatal mistake). It was a young buck and we were surprised he charged us to hard but thats the rut for you. It is my brothers buck and he prefers to not post pics online so sorry, no pics. Today is the last day of the archery season. Good luck to all those still out there and to the rifle hunters in the coming weeks.

Tagged out on the 19th 5 stalks before we had a goat come in to the decoy.

Congrats Lefty. They just didn't cooperate for me. That's hunting...especially bow hunting. Just couldn't justify the 3rd 6 hour round trip back down there. Got out closer to home and got a nice bull elk so that's a pretty awesome consolation prize.
