shallow water pike

I got off work early today, hit the lake around 1:30. set up in about 4 feet of water for a change, and glad I did. 5 hits before I could even get my second bait in the water. ended up leaving at dark and got the fattest 37 incher Ive ever seen just as I was packing up.the fish in the video came in and hit a big jig with minnow but managed to shake it off in the hole, so I switched to a swimbait and managed to irritate it enough to bite again, got it thru the ice this time. lots of fun watching the pike hit only a few feet below me.

Nice pike, have you noticed them looking quite a bit more healthy since the commercial fishery got shut down? In my neck of the woods the pike seem to looking better every year.

Healthy yes, unscarred no. I see a whole lot of marked up pike, some with bites, some with claw marks, a lot of fishing wounds too, all have been healed but some are pretty banged up. makes it easy to recognize the repeats you see Ive even caught the same pike 2 days in a row, must have been the dumb one.
