not firsthand
But as you likely know the .300 NM is a new US sniper round. Not sure if they didn't re-invent the wheel as they had the .308 NM available?Lapau makes brass.

300 Norma is totally different than the 308
300 is based off a 338 lapua
308 is based off of the 338 win iirc and predates even the 300 win

I enjoy my 300norma. 25" 9twist benchmark barrel. Hornady 225eldm with 91.4gr RE33 is right at the 3000fps range.
Heavy magnums require heavy rifles or good brakes....or both. Yeah you can get away with a light setup, but its your shoulder. I perfer my setup that is around 13pounds. Can shoot until I get bored

.300's
My thoughts were the US was already using the .338 Lapua+.300 win mag in Iraq and Afghanistan and the stolen idea for the .300 win mag wouldn't exist except for poor marketing of the .308 Norma magnum back in the day.It was a general comment. The belt wasn't needed, just a carry over from the H+H for magnums .Headspacing could have used the shoulders.

If you are not going to be shooting past 1mile constantly, or dont want to go extremely heavy (250gr) its pretty much just a "my gun shoots faster thans yours" game.
Fire forming is easy and takes some time, but the amount of drop or windage you will gain using a 200-230gr wont equate to much. Dont know if the added width will be able to fit single stack magazines properly. If you are hand feeding this wont matter.
The 300norma pretty much tops out conventional 30cal energy (at this time). An animal or paper or steel wont recognize the added 100fps on a bullet. Almost need to step up to a 338 or 375 to get to the next energy level.
I like my AI stuff, but damn near every year someone seems to make a new factory offering that is within a hair of a AI version load.
Just my opinion

Have you picked one up? I'm running 225eldm and RE33 with 215M and Norma brand brass. Primer pockets seem like they don't like over pressure at all. One good hit and they make nice Christmas gifts.

Barrel is on the way
Went with a hells canyon
So it’s a benchmark blank, like yours. Then carbon wrapped

Well I finally remembered to send this in and it’s time to get it ready for this fall
I just went with the standard 300 Norma
Anyone have any insight on what youve had luck with for a load?
Looking at running the 215 gr bergers for long range. As well as possible a frames for some big bears.
I’m pretty well stocked for powder
