Default Richmond, BC shooting

Just got an email from my mom. My parents own a small accounting firm which is on the second floor of a building in Richmond, BC and a neighbouring business owner on the ground floor was shot last night an hour after my parents left! My parents would have been there but they left a bit early. My parents are understandably rattled.

The man has survived the shooting. No idea of reason at this point. The guy owned a tile shop.

Yup!

My Dad's parents grew up in that area when it was just a farming community. If my parents were not so close to retirement they would probably move and start over. My dad just has a few more years and then he will look to sell the firm.

It certainly is not what it once was. I grew up in Ladner and played in an old abandoned barn, paddle a boat to my friends places on the slough that runs behind my parents place, there was lots of hobby farms around their place and I remember as a kid getting horse and buggy rides from an old man with two Clydesdales for a nickle. There use to be tons of smoke houses all over the west side of Ladner that is close to the harbour, now most of them are gone although my parents next door neighbours still have theirs. Smoked salmon every Xmas from them.

Now it's all suburban s hite and I'm only 31.
