Default Is there quail in AB?

Flushed some birds on multiple occasions and, as far as I can tell, the closest look alike would be bobwhite quail, but since there are no quails in bag limits in AB regulations, I assume it must be something else.

Could you help me out - is it:
1. There are quails in Alberta, but can't hunt them or
2. There is some other bird looking a lot like a quail?

Saw quite some times in Brooks area, fewer west

Yes there are quail in Alberta.
You can find them in most grocery stores in the frozen meat section.

What you saw....Probably Hungarian partridge

Thanks, I'll read into it.
I'd hate being a Texas ornithologist.
