This is from the hunting regulations:

SALE OF WILDLIFE

The selling, buying, bartering, soliciting or trading in wildlife or wildlife parts, or offering to do so, is regulated under the Wildlife Act and Regulations. Many transactions are strictly prohibited, while others are regulated. For further information, please contact a Fish and Wildlife office.

When conducting wildlife transactions over the internet, recognize that wildlife laws vary in many jurisdictions; wildlife (such as a naturally shed antler) that is legal to sell within Alberta may not be legal to sell to persons in the U.S.

I've heard that there is a 3 year waiting period once forms are entered ... don't know if this part is true or not.

I know I can't sell a skull that I've registered as a 'found dead'.
I have to forfeit to the crown when I get rid of it.

So it's fine if someone sells your kid a plastic bag and gives him crack... Got it.

Lol! Good analogy, bang on. Don't encourage people to seek a loophole that doesn't exist.

It can be a hassle, but it's a good way to identify poachers that are trying to sell stuff they have poached. Or at least it would make it harder for them to conduct their dirty business.

Let me guess? Then you find some money thrown away? Or someone just gives you money?

If you go through the effort to get the appropriate paperwork, I wonder how many years it's good for. I'll be honest as I get older and eventually downsize at some point I'm probably going to have to get rid of my taxidermy. I don't know if my kids are interested in any of them, nor do I have a clue if they're worth much. But I don't see anything g wrong with selling them eventually. I can use the money to grow the scotch collection! That will move with me no matter how much I downsize. Lol

When wanting a permit to sell a mount you must take the mount to a F&W office and leave it with them for a week or 4 to register. Then you must wait 3 years to sell the mount. Transaction has to be recorded.

I inquired into it when making a will.

Took me a half hour to register my elk so i can sell it you don't leave anything there they will not store your mounts the paperwork will be done on the spot and a tag drilled through the horn. There are limits to what you can sell like 2 rams in your lifetime,1 goat ,1 grizzly ,unlimited deer, moose and elk and black bear
