Default My hunting season pics

After reading the thread lamenting on how the forum used to be with hunting stories and such I figured the only way to change it back would be if the folks that miss it start posting what they want to see. So here's some pics and such from my season. Enjoy

Started the year off with some goose and duck hunts that weren't all that successful in regards to the kill count but I learnt a lot and spent some good time with friends.

By mid season work was starting to get busy, but a short 15min hunt at home scored this doe for the freezer, just in case I got to busy to spend more time out.

Thankfully there was a good lull a while later and this buck fell at 40yd after 1.5hr of stalking parallel to its pathway. Not much on the head but weighed 156lb on the rail! Both of these deer were taken with a Husqvarna 30-06 my grandfather gave to me.

Fun as it always is to meet success with that old 30-06 I had been reloading for two years and really wanted to see how my powder coated bullets from the .444M would perform on some game, getting near the end of the season a wonderful ambush setup resulted in a doe for me at 10-15yd and a buck for my co-hunter at 70yd! Both deer went down very quickly from the 280gr hard-casts.
Been having a lot of fun processing this game and will be enjoying it throughout the year!
I still have one more tag to fill this year, cow elk Dec. - Jan.

It's in excellent shape and actually shoots consistently under 1.5" with federal blue box 180gr. Unfortunately this year it developed a crack behind the tang, so I need to find a really good gunsmith to fix it properly. I'd do it myself on a gun with less sentemental value but this one I want done professionaly

Good post! Wish more people were posting their stories and photos. Doesn't even matter if there was success at the end.

That duck hunt was my first time doing it from the kayak, it was a little nerve racking. Also the Citori was brand new, first time using it, that only added to the suspense!
