Default Buying Crab Ucluelet/Tofino/Island

Is there anywhere to buy dungeness crab either fresh or frozen relatively reasonable? I want to take a bunch home but charter doesnt do crab out of Uvluelet… is there even any crab around there cuz there sure ain’t in the little bay.

I spose a guy could buy in Nainaimo or something? Cook em up and freeze for the trip.

Processor wants like $23-$24 a pound in UQ…. Seems a little steep

Post is about buying but please PM me if you know a good secret place to catch some?

Check this place on the East side in Parksville. I know they often have Dungeness fresh but also have frozen. We buy our Albacore there.

How long can you keep live crab on ice? I want to get my crab home, forced to cook and freeze it.

Most I would pay is 18 per lb for "fresh" caught crab. Grown male dungeness will be about 2lbs. So its gonna be an expensive meal. Tons of work/stress and hassle to bring it home. Especially when you can go to T&t which is selling them for 11 dollars per lb with the average one being 2.5lbs.

There used to a truck with a large water tank in the box full of crab that they sold in the campgrounds i remember them coming a couple times a week to the qualicum area campgrounds. Prices were reasonable. Good luck.
