Default north buck jan 26

just got back from my first trip to north buck lake. went with a fellow ao member in search of perch. first part was interesting as he blazed the first truck trail across the lake in deep snow. after we got to the spot we set up and he started catching small perch pretty quickly. after some tips i started catching some with the first one being a nice 12" and the first keeper of the day. it turned into an absouletly beautifull warm sunny day without a hint of a breeze. i ended up catching 25 perch and 5 pike (one decent 28"). lost track of my partners numbers.
thanks for the great day kim.

nice fish! So how deep is the snow. I hate driving a vehicle on the lake and am starting to think the quads will be sol.
Beauty day today but I'm on call so you know how that goes......

Nice to see those results. Heard it's a tough go up there lately. Haven't been there for a number of years. Congrats and yeah what a beautiful day to be out on the ice.

By the way, we did not keep 25 perch or 5 pike! Those are totals that waterninja counts. 9 perch and one pike kept. I my self don't count throw backs. Or should I say put backs. Lots of small bait robbers. Very few 10" or bigger, not even on the camera.

Stoped at Long lake on the way back and it does not look good for driving on. Looks like lots of flood water out there where others were driving, changed there mind and backed up. Even the fish and wildlife people were out there on sleds.

Lots of fun ninja! Glad we got a trip in together. Any time you want to go, give me a shout.

Nice report... I was going to post a spot on satellite pic, but if its hard driving, you would never make it.

Some pretty big drifts on the lake in places. My 2004 Dakota handled it pretty good, Had to go where no man/woman has gone before. (break new trail) New M+S studded tires help. Looking iffy for quads tho. Any big dump of snow and I think quads will start having big problems. Still not any wheres close to two years ago when the snow on the lake was like three feet or so in places.
Ice & snow was 1/2 way up the auger, rough guess, over 14" Looked like the first 3" or so was white not so good ice. I wouldn't drive across the middle of the lake yet but no problem other wise.

nice job i was out there too caught lots of perch and pike one pike over 63cm and biggest perch was 11 inches. the fish were everywhere from 15' to as shallow as 5' its crazy catching them so shallow that you could practically reach in and grab them.
