Default Marten Catch/Trap Density

Hey guys,

Now that marten season in nearly over (finished for me anyway), just wanted to see how the marten populations are looking in the different areas and how others made out for the season. Being that it is my first year I wanted to compare my catch numbers and trap density to other more experienced trappers. For me:

Total caught - 50
Boxes set - 113
Boxes/catch - 2.26
Box spacing - ~1.0 km
Trapline size - 3.5 twp

Would love to see how others made out!

Thanks.

35 boxes
30-35 marten caught
Space mine every 500 yards for the most part.
Had some traps in area that i wanted to explore way off the main area I trapped with no success
Trapline is 7.23 Townships but I didnt trap a 1/4 of it
Next year will be a good test to see what my numbers will be in the same area and I will have another 50+ boxes as well as the 30 I have out now. Got some real good stuff to trap next year I just found last week.

I run about 40 boxes! Only have 4 marten this year! Didn't start till after Christmas! Only have 1 twnshp but only trap about 1/2 of it due to access. ****ty season for me this year!!

How long was the line dormant before you started trapping it ? IMO this makes a big difference. When I bought my last line I caught 14 marten in 20 sets with 5 day checks. I did this 2 checks in a row then things levelled out.

The line hadn't been trapped in 3 years. Then again, most of the line burnt around 4 years ago. So it is interesting to see how the populations last through a fire.....
