Default Whoops!!

I found a good spot to bait and snare coyotes so I prebaited with a roadkill deer and put up a camera ..gave it a 2 day soak and checked the SD card ..good thing I didnt hang snares right off the bat . At least 5 different dogs the first day ..a couple coyotes after dark but not worth catching the others

Are you sure that they aren’t feral dogs? Landowners near the Reserve have a really bad issue with feral Rez dogs. They hunt in packs and won’t hesitate to kill a calf. WAY worse than coyotes and any dog running at large is shot on sight. Bad, bad doggies.

No collars are visible.

Any farms near by?

Talked with a guy that used to live close by and he says they shot all visiting dogs on sight, saved alot of headaches.

Yes feral dogs in a pack are deadly. They cover alot of ground and are smart enough to know how to run horses into fences and probably would be hell on a flock of sheep. When I was a kid we had some raise hell on our expensive quarter horses. Never forget the old man shooting all 4 on a cold morning in his house coat. On a dead run with the 243 they were big rank dogs. They terrorized the area for a month. If they eating deer together like that I bet they arent someone's pets.

Let’s be careful what we insinuate on the forum.
However, if private land and not the landowners dogs those dogs have no business being there and that’s very frustrating, feel bad for you Cam. Dogs should not limit a trapper if the landowner gives permission, yet sadly they often do.

yes agreed.... not saying kill them in any way shape or form simply that free roaming dogs are very capable predators once they get the taste for blood and if they keep coming to the bait it wouldn't hurt to ask the f and w for some advice and do the livestock farmers a huge favor while you got the chance.
