Thanks for the info....
I here what your saying about the 300 vs 300WSM....I personally like the feel of the 300WSM (I have owned both) I love the shorter action, and pack worrthiness of the shorter barrel....and in terms of performance (like mentioned) I haven't noticed any significant difference....except (due to weight) my 300WSM packs a bigger punch!
Before I started loading, I had always been a huge Nosler Partition fan. I found that its performance in terms of putting down game was one of the most reliable bullet's around... when I started reloading, I was having a lot of trouble finding the a combination that seemed to give me consistent results....at 100yrds my best combination gave me about a 1.5"MOA; and to get that....I needed a shoulder replacment. From people I had talked to, they said for the Nosler Partition that was acceptible.
Since then I have loaded the both Nosler Ballistic Tips, and the Accubond....and Let me tell you from the performance of the accubond in the field last year...I am sold on it....it just seems to be a great combination of a bullet that has a good BC and some stopping (penetration) power.....an all around bullet. Last year I loaded 150 gr.
Problem I have had so far is "the magic combination". I found a reciepe that did well on paper, 1/2" MOA @ 100yrds....but according to the data tables it should have been doing over 3150 fps, which I have heard may be a little fast for hunting applications???
This year I want to try loading the 165gr accubond....What kind of speeds should I be looking at for hunting appplications? Unlike the Nosler Partitions...I should be able to achieve nice tight MOA's, right?
Also, how do you really know when you are approaching unsafe loads? I have always stayed @ least 5% under the maximum in the data tables up to this point.
