Default Humminbird zerolines Chip!

I was thinking about getting the new Humminbird zerolines chip as you are supposed to be able to create a sonar log and use that to create a map of any lake that you go on. I was just woundering if anyone has had a chance to use one, and are they worth having for western Canada as I don't know what the coverage in Canada is and, I have read online that one person had trouble with it due to having a helix unit which takes micro SD cards and the chip is a regular.

Coverage is not a problem as you use it to store your own created mapping. I can't comment on the Helix as my unit is the Onix.

My understanding is the zerolines is basically a outline of a lake with no depth charts until you use autocharts.

Also depending on the Helix model they have regular SD card slots.
My Zerolines is a micro SD in a SD as my Helix 10 Mega Chirp uses dual SD card slots.

This is correct. They do not provide anything other than the lake outline and the ability to store more Autochart Live to map the lake you are on.

I have one with my Helix 9 and love the system as I Autochart all the lakes I fish. Normal maps for western Canada are pretty terrible but this system gives me accurate info for the areas I fish. The latest Helix update adds vegetation and bottom hardness mapping in addition to the regular bathymetric mapping too.

Very nice!
Other than buying another helix ice system is there a way to load your maps onto a gps for ice fishing or if you go on a boat that doesn't have a hummingbird unit?

There may be a way to do that using Autochart Pro computer program but I have zero experience with doing that. If you wanted to use it ice fishing I would look at a Helix 5G2 or 7G2 with the ice package. The chip can be moved from one unit to another but only works with those that have Autochart. It doesn't work with other brands of finders.
