Default Headed to Montana

Heading down to Eureka next weekend for a little camping and wondering if its worth our while to pack the fly gear? Any input would be great!

Short of a visit to parts of the world devoid of water, when is it ever not worth bringing your fly gear?

Full disclosure: I have never fished in that area, however there is some excellent lakes and streams just north of the border, so I would be surprised if there was not equally great fisheries on the south side of the line.

I have not fished that side of Montana yet. I'm sure there are some good ones though.

If you are into traveling a bit, here are some ideas:

Lots of lakes around eureka and along 93 down to whitefish. I fish the flathead area and they have tons of public access spots if your willing drive the extra hour.

I've had some good success with small drys on the tobacco river south of town...mostly cutthroats...sophie lake also good from a boat...you can get a license at NorthWest sports on the left as you enter Eureka from the north...near $80 for non-resident...

Thanks for the input everyone! Going to bring the rods and see if we have time to make a couple casts. I was looking into the licenses and they do offer just a two day license for non-residents.
