He's just been dead long enough for the hair to start slipping and make it easier to pluck.
Notice how it's all gathered by his neck? Something has pulled it out and spit it there.
Judging by the hole in it's shoulder I'd say cause of death was a .284 projectile.

I'm here all week incase something else needs a photo autopsy...

Definitely doesn't need any more aging.

Hard to say on the mange.

No photos yet, however this video might help identify the cause of the mange On my morning stroll I noticed a familiar set of tracks on a deer trail crossing the line and trailed I them fifty meters to the deer. As I was attaching my cam to the tree I heard her guttural growl so I made a quick exit. She was on camera nine minutes later and spent the afternoon burying the deer and chasing off scavengers. The last video of the day shows her calling to her kitten. From what I could gather, the kitten was doing the excessive plucking as the female fed on the hind quarter. A nice ice little 5x4 buck.

What you see there is what ravens do to a carcass. No disease in that deer cept for the bullet hole in its shoulder

The deer was completely consumed as of the 9th. It was killed early in the morning, on the 6th. So, four days later she is out hunting again and based on the scars on her shoulders, she's hunting bucks. No bullet hole, that is where they usually enter the chest to feed on the choice innards.

I think you did it a great favor by putting it out of it's misery. Was most likely in a lot of pain. Was that the only deer seen in that condition?

What is happening here? The cat caught that deer? Or the deer died and was found by the cat? How do you know the buck died on the 6th?
