The last one I ordered from Robertsons arrived "unfinished" so I had to finish the inlet for the bolt, and am now looking at installing the pillars, epoxy bedding, sling studs, and recoil pad.

You'll likely find what you need at gunsmith specialty places, but I'd not be surprised if Lee Valley Tools had what you want; you'd just have to describe it differently if one of the gardeners answers the phone

Default Pillars at

Rona, Home Depot or Ace Hardware.
Come in a pkg of six.
They label them as lamp tubes...

Yup, Lamp tubes work great. Cut them to the length you need. The outer screw thread holds the bedding compound very well.

There are a few problems with those. 1. they are too readily available. 2. they are too inexpensive. 3. they can't be purchased from a renown gunsmith. 4. they require some "tweeking" such as cutting to the right lenght and profiling to the action with a file. 5. they fit most action screws. 6. they are not cool.

Sounds like a great idea. I want to buy some but couldn't find anything called "lamp tubes?" I looked on RONA and Home Depot and all that came up were light bulbs. What does it say on the packaging?

The other fellow called them lamp tubes and I knew what he meant. I call them lamp posts and got them from Home Hardware in High River. I just checked Home Depot, they call them "nipples" ..... here you go =

I have used pieces f aluminum arrow cut to the right length, the advantage being you can get the different ID to match your screws.

I just by a small piece of threaded ready rod in the appropriate size, cut it to size, make sure its square and drill the proper size out for the screw.
