Default Old rifle scope question

I inherited a old rifle from my dad, It is a Globco .303 British converted (bolt action) It currently has no rails to mount a scope. I have tried to use the iron sights but don't feel very confident (especially out past 100 yrds). I would like to add a scope. What are my options (besides duct tape or crazy glue...Just kidding)

I have had a gun smith look at it and he found it to be in great shape.

here is a link that I have found with the most "useful" information. not the exact gun but very very similar.

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/philqgbr/n435c.html

Thanks!

You can take your rifle to a gunsmith and have him drill and tap for a scope base.

I one had done last year that was $50, that was in Brooks , and he didn't do a very good job of it at all. I picked up the gun expecting the base & rings to be mounted and ready to go, the holes were drilled & tapped and that was it. No big deal, 2 mins to install the bases, except one of the holes was 1/16+ out, ended up fixing it myself. And on that note, it ain't that hard to do yourself if you have a good tap set. If you want some advice on how to do it lemme know.

If it's a # 4, and the receiver bridge hasn't been altered you can get a scope mount, that replaces the rear sight.

Go to www.303british.com on the lower r.h. side of the home page click on "The indestructible scope mount" I did one and it works great, a buddy did one in 1 inch angle aluminum and it looks even better. Best of all it's dirt cheap and mounts the scope closer to the bore than any "No gun-smithing mount". The website is a great resource for Enfield fans. What Steve doesn't know about these rifles is irrelevant.
