Default Ministik Lake - “Foot access only” ...really!?

I’ve read all the posts I can find in this forum regarding ministik. It’s a great area from what I can tell, and during bow season I had many good times in there this year. But oooooooh man did that all change Nov 1!!! Unbelievable what I witnessed from my tree stand. Guys using their fire arms as binoculars and ultimately pointing rifles right at other hunters not 100m from them. Witnessed it on two occasions in one morning.

Anyways... I’m more concerned with the whole “foot access only” that is posted at every trail head. Never mind the snowmobile club in the winter, that’s entirely different. But guys have been ripping through with quads dragging moose and deer out! What a pile of **** that is to see, for us guys actually hunting on foot and having full intentions of recovering harvested game on foot.

Is it actually foot access only and some guys just do whatever they want in ministik? Or am I missing something...

I chatted with a f&w that said using a quad in a foot access only area is a bylaw infraction of which isnt something they deal with. Not sure what the fine is from bylaw but the odds of them coming out quickly are probably slim to none.

I was shocked to hear that.

I may have heard something along those same lines today from a FW officer as well. I called for clarity, I’m waiting to hear back with an official answer on it.

What’s the point in having rules anymore these days, no one follows them because nothing happens anyways.

I had friends stopped by f&w in a foot access only area who brought this topic up. He basically told them he cant deal with anyone on a quad retrieving their downed animal if they wanted to do that.

As I'm mentioning this I wonder how this would be handled in blackfoot of all places which is walking only as well.

I assume they have more pull in Blackfoot maybe as it’s not just a natural area. But it’s the principle, it’s the exact same infraction but because of where it’s happening, they can’t do anything? Lol ooooh man

Default Foot access only.

I saw one farmer who was not happy with people driving their trucks onto his property that was posted so he anchored two sets of harrows with the business side pointing up. There were no tracks on his property anymore. Easy solution to keeping wheeled vehicles out anyways.

Blackfoot is a Provincial Recreation and Grazing Area. Falls under the Provincial Parks Act. The only OHV allowed in the Blackfoot are snowmobiles and only when there is a certain amount of snow.

Enjoy the easy ride, anti hunters. Strange to me why we seem to be doing your job for you.

Excuse me while I go puke.

As cool as this sounds, it’s the farmer that would be charged with mischief.

I guess if he had signs everywhere saying “Danger, various farm implements scattered throughout property “ he might just get a pass

Hooooow in the world is a farmer going to get charged with mischief for parking farm equipment on his own property, to stop people from trespassing (as this is what it seems your sayin) lol

It’s unbelievable that he would have to go to these lengths after posting his property to no avail. Sad really.
