Default Spruce up the Flyfishing forum!

So here's a few pics to get us through the winter. Although, I live in Lethbridge (the land of chinooks) so we even get some flyfishing in on the warmer winter days. Most of these were from this spring/summer? Hope you enjoy!

Pic of a friend taken on the bow in the NW a month or two after the flooding. You can see a bit of scarring on the side of the pike facing the camera. The other side of it was a bit worse off (IIRC).

No reason you can't. Made it my goal last year to pull at least one fish out of the bow with the fly rod every month between the smaller stuff closing in 2012 and re-opening in 2013. Here's a pic from one of the chinooking days (unsure which month)

A few from the archives-

A perfect specimen; gorgeous 23" Bow River rainbow hen...

I caught this rainbow in my favorite creek; got him again a week later, from the exact same spot!

My bro' caught this nice brown in the same creek...

My bro' got this 24" Sheep River bull trout on a little olive bugger...

Deep-bodied, super-spotted Bow River rainbow...

Urban brown trout...

A couple pics from my first crack at walleye on the fly rod...

22" brown from a small creek...

Beetle-eating headwaters brookie...

Ciao, for now...

I love trout fishing...but no dry flies were on the menu this day. Personal best longnose gar. For reference, I'm 6'2", 290lbs.

Great stuff, guys!
A few more from the vaults-

Somebody likes my stonefly nymph!

The creek's a little low!

25" creek brown...

Medicine Lake in Jasper National Park...

Medicine lake brookie...

A pic from a fun weekend near Panorama, B.C.

I caught this cutty in the Bow, here in Calgary...

My first & only fly-caught burbot...

This little whitefish came up & ate this big foam fly right at my feet...

My bro' fishes Upper Kananaskis Lake; we got a bunch of cutts that day...

Thanks GS~they're all different. This was in the spring when they're spawning. So, their energy level is a little lower...but...they're in a river vs. the open water, so more to contend with if you pin a big one like this. In the heat of the summer, you can expect about 1/3 to clear the water and/or take a pretty long run. Most of the small/young 2'-range fish will jump.
