Default Lake Turn Over Time

Spoke to North Western Dave about a recent trip he took to Calling where he saw massive amounts of green algae, even though the water is getting pretty cold.

I explained that happens every year and what he was seeing was the settled Algae being carried up the water column from the mix of dense cold water up top settling and the warmer water on the bottom rising, but carrying all the algae up with it.

Because there is a river at Calling, most of that algae ends up down the river and the lake clears up in a few days. Most interesting from what Dave saw was alot of large fish, likely pike, on the surface in the green algae apparently feeding on something.

Has anyone else seen other lakes turning over already?
