There is quite a bit of snow on Spray as of today, 4" - 6" of drifted snow. Wind was pretty bad at times, so more drifted snow. This was taken today, Feb. 11.

We found fishing today to be pretty good by my standards, we brought 12 fish to the ice between two of us in about 6 hours, but plenty more bites and marked fish on the flasher. Most were quite small, but I caught my personal best from Spray today at about 1 PM

We caught a few more about this size, but most of the other fish we landed were pretty small:

All in all a pretty good way to spend a day.

Slowwww day up there today. Fished 8am-2pm and managed to ice one small laker. Had 2 other nibbles. It was gorgeous out, but the bite was as slow as I've ever encountered in the winter.

Fished Spray last weekend, and was checked by a conservation officer on a snowmobile. Great guy, was very thorough in talking about the regulations and what they mean to us as anglers. I had brought a group of new anglers out to Spray for their first time, and also happened to be their first time being checked by the authorities. He checked our licenses, hooks, tent, our numbers of retained fish and our bait.

Good experiences with officers don't seem to get reported publicly often enough. Looked like a fun day to have that mountain lake all to yourself on a snowmobile, in fresh snow!

What do you mean by checked hooks?

He inspected our hooks that we were using, not sure how I can clarify that any more for you.

I assume he would be looking for illegal bait, too many hook points, etc. - however he didn't say, and I didn't ask.

Is the Goat Pond accesible in winter as well? I've never fished up there but am very interested. I imagine the SDS Trail has to be fairly accessible in order to get to Spray?

not sure what the SDS trail is but the 782 highway to spray lake is maintained all winter long

Ive fished it probably a dozen times this winter and haven't seen it over 20 inches of ice. Are you saying it got 13 inches of new ice in the past week?
