Default Report a Poacher

Was out on the Bow today and noticed a group of fisher people on the other side of the river who appeared to be using bait.Called Report a Poacher and they said they would send someone out.About an hour and a half later a CO called me to confirm location and description and told me he was about ten minutes away. Not two minutes after I hung up the phone the fisher people were gone.Started heading back to the truck and looking to see if they just had moved to another spot but I didn't see them and thought to myself that if they were poaching, they got away with it.As I was almost at my truck I seen a CO truck on the other side of the river with the red and blue lights flashing,I figured he got there in time to at least check if they were fishing illegally.Got a call from the CO about an hour or so later(left a message)and stated that one person was charged with fishing with bait and retaining prohibited fish
Made my day

Good work. Nice to see some effective field work from f&w, I know they would do a lot more if they had it their way.

Well done! hey where were u fishing?

I saw some guys fishing with a pickerel rig some days ago, asked them if they were using bait and they said no, can u fish a pickerel rig without bait, seems kinda odd to me but i wasn't certain.

Let me guess on the east side? Probably the same guys, should have went with my instincts, gave them the benefit of the doubt. The annoying thing is they even recited the regulations to me and told me they released an oversize rainbow. Glad you got them!

There was a group of them fishing consistently on the east of the river near mallard point in douglasbank that were always fishing with pickerel rigs and bait and leave garbage everywhere. Would have buckets of everything, whities, trout (big enough to stick out of a 5 gallon home depot bucket), and suckers. Called the fish cops on them 2 or 3 times earlier this year and have not seen them since.

Its always nice when the CO can make it down.

We floated the Bow on Friday from Glenmore to Policeman's flats and saw a few groups of 3-4 "new Canadians" bait fishing. We called but did not hear back.

Man. Sounds like they almost need to have constant patrols roving up and down the bow. Friggen poachers.

Thumbs up Calling The RAP Line

Well done !!

Had you not made the call, they would have definitely got away with it. If they got away with it once, and probably have previously, they would continue.

As we all know, there are not enough Fish and Wildlife Officers in the province. It takes all of us to be their eyes and ears, and pass on anything we see. The information you pass on may be all they need to make a case.
