Default bait

WE were using minnows or smelts when we were there three weeks ago. It didnt seem to matter at that time. Smelts are alot cheaper( superstore), dont forget stinger hooks. Good luck. P.S PLEASE release the bigger fish, just sayin.

Ill let you know how we do, we are heading up next Thursday for a couple of days.

If you call the fishing hole in Edmonton they can ship you what you need if your not heading through Edmonton.

i have always had good luck up there using a big white bucktail type jig, about a 1 oz or little larger. Tip it with a smelt and you are off to the races. A local shop called Exsile outdoors here in Lloydminster has a great selection of these.

Was out today, fishing was slow, got 2. Its tough driving if you get off the beaten trail. I'd advise snowmobiles if you want to go anywhere other than Garnet or the border. We're taking sleds tomorrow to fish some other spots.

About half the lake. The regs require you the have either license to fish either side but Sask rules on the sask side and alberta rules on the Alberta side.

Provincial Park is you best bet for access. I like a 15-20 braid and a 15 ft 20lb flurocarbon leader.

12 pound flouro. No leader. Sounds light, but ive never been snapped off. Make sure you have a good reel, with reliable drag. Check your line/ retie often, they will get rolled up sometimes, and do have shRp teeth! Good luck!
