Default Thubun Lake NWT

Has anyone fished this lake in the last year or two? Looking at doing a trip in June and was wondering how the fishing was and how you felt the cabins were? We will be mainly chasing pike.

Thanks!

I know some guys who fly into there a couple of times a year...made there own camp and had 3, 16' boats stashed! Unfortunately last year someone apparently needed the boats more than them and they haven't been back since. It's a big lake and they fished some remote areas...lots of good sized Pike and lots of what they were mainly after big Lakers!

Isn't it fly in only... Someone stole their boats? Did they fish with the lodge or do their own thing...

Thanks for the feedback!

I believe they bought the boats off an outfitter up there back in 08-09, bring the engine's, fuel and supplies with them and go from there. Actually after posting on this thread I touched base with my buddy and there gonna give it another shot this year on a different lake...like I said there main target are big Lakers so they'll probably stick to the Great Slave area. I asked him about the Pike fishin in Thubun he said it was very good to out of this world awsome...he'd know!!

I know the lodge had problems with bears last year and had to do a lot of rebuilding last season. They were not really open to guests from what I can tell.. and I am not really sure if they are operating this season either. Are you after big pike, or pike and lakers? Lots of lodges to choose from.

Default Thubun

Hey Guys, yeah Thubun is great for big Pike, the lodge was closed for a season due to a Bear breakin and ransacked the joint. Trout were plentiful, mostly 8 to 12 lbs, but the odd large one over 20. Its reopened now for this season, June was all booked up, I know a few guys going up in early July, and im going maybe this fall again.

As for the stashed boats, not sure how they would go missing, the lodge is fly in only?
