Default AB PC Government - Sense of Entitlement

Are you aware that the govt of Alberta has 4 jets available to ferry their people around. That the government of BC has zero?

Good article in today's globe.

While the premier makes for a convenient target, perhaps the real problem lies much deeper in a party with 43 years of power.

Back in the Eddie days, I remember being seated next to Hector Goudreau on a flight to Calgary. He had the option to fly with the government plane, but chose to use a peasant carrier instead, to save costs.

Just happened to be that there was a delay in the plane's departure, and he ended up being too late for the event he was to speak at, which was unfortunate. I could tell that he was wishing he took the government plane that day!

Point being, some of these guys are trying to do their part in keeping costs down, even if it's just for the sake of optics.

Some get the public servant things.

others see it as a way to become more connected and get some of the grease that lubes the machine.

I like the public servants.

Did you know that the province of Alberta has no jets? That's right, zero!!!!

They do have some Beech King Airs and one De Havilland Dash 8 to move firefighters around with....

Where do people get these foolish ideas? Make them up???

No one cares whether they have propellers or not. The point is that politicians should fly commercial like the rest of us. They are not royalty. When no commercial option exists at all then they should charter a plane.
Alberta politicians should start to care about the little things, because that shows their constituents that they can be trusted with the big issues.
Really enjoyed The Globe and Mail article.

Kevin Taft and Laurie Blakeman tried to raise this issue with government planes 10 years ago and were soundly ignored. They are liberals after all.

At first I thought the Wildrose deserved some credit for forming a somewhat effective opposition but after taking a closer look I don't think that's the whole story. There are some pretty nasty divisions in the PC party as evidenced by the mess with the nomination of Young as the party whip and it seems like that it what kept this going. It was internal leaks feeding the story.

I don't know what it will take for Alberta voters to realize that having an effective opposition is essential for democracy.

Read the Globe & Mail article. Too bad the author doesn't do a lot better research.

And here is the author: Tom Flanagan is a Distinguished Fellow of the School of Public Policy, University of Calgary. He managed the Wildrose campaign in the 2012 Alberta election.

Truly is unfortunate that large newspapers have such poor writers. Where are the bulk of us to find the truth?

Regards,

Don

I never saw any props on that jet she was walking to on the tarmac on tonights news, and it certainly didn't look like any commercial flight. May be it is just leased huh.
