Default Best place near Hinton to spend the day?

I'm meeting family in Hinton in August. Ages will be from littles to grandparents(so, no hiking). And a few dogs. I was thinking an afternoon at the lake should work for all ages and creatures. I'm not sure what lakes in the area are swimmable. Is Wildhorse provincial park(Kinky lake?) decent enough for swimming? Fishing(shore) would be a bonus. Any other recommendations close to Hinton?

Miette hot springs is pretty close. Very reasonable fee. Nice drive up into the hills. Will be a busy place this year.

Pierre Grey Lakes is a nice area to spend the day. Nice campsites and day area. All 3 lakes stocked with trout.

Local pub, air conditioned and the beer is cold! Kids can play in the streets.

How close? Most lakes in Jasper NP are around an hour away.
William A Switzer park is much closer and a real nice spot.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out the suggestions. Not so much the pub- quite sure they won't allow dogs in a pub and I'd much rather be drinking a beer by a campfire.

Pierre Greys is an hour from Hinton towards Grande Cache, I think Jarvis lake has a day use area and it is close to Hinton.

Default Jarvis Lake

Just spent a bit over a week down at the Gregg Lake campground. We spent a day at the day use area at Jarvis Lake (closer to Hinton). Awesome beach with roped off swim area. Water was clean. Lots of tadpoles and little fish for little (and bigger) kids to chase. Water was clean. Had a little luck with fishing - apparently others had better. Definitely will be going back at some point. Does get busy on the weekend at the day use area though and the parking lot area is a bit on the small side, especially if there's a lot of guys with boat trailers.
