Default Leupold VX-R Scopes

Has anyone tried one of these before?

im looking at getting a new scope for my 7mm rem mag. i currently have a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40mm but im looking at the 4-12x50mm VX-R.

The fire dot and the BDC reticle look pretty nice.

I have 4-12×50mm on my .308 and they are great scopes.
Clear and excellent in low light/foggy situations.

If the 4-12 comes in a 40, I would opt for that. Good hunting scope for sure.

You will be able to get a better cheek weld with the 40, your eyes likely aren't capable of taking in any more light, and resale will be easier. I'd go 40.

I have the 4x12-40 VXR Firedot with CDS on my .338 win mag Browning Xbolt. Love it. Very fast on target.

I had one in 3-9x50 with the #4 reticle, I found it to be well made and tough. Gathered light good, better than the vx3L I got ride of. I I used it on my 338 win mag, 30-06 and my 375 h&h. It held zero on all of these rifles and even held up to a quick trip down a steep mountain stream during a sheep hunt when I fell. No damage other than scratches to the scope. The aluma cap on the objective was very bent out of shape. It still held zero after bouncing, sliding and scraping almost 12 feet with my gun. Sold it to help fund a vx3i with parallax adjustment.
