Nice work. Just updated my first lake whitefish experience on the flyfishing section. Glad to see you enjoyed catching them as much as I did

Beautiful water and great pics! The Whitefish Whisperer I see leaves no mercy for the poor species, even in the solitude of summer! ;-)

Hi David ...I want to try for lake whites on the fly rod this year. I found a spot they seem to hang at. I was wondering if you could share the flies and method you use on them?...I'm a newbie flyfisher of 2 yrs and this is something new I want to try. Thanks for any advice you might have )

I've been to Pigeon a few times and still haven't found these elusive whites yet. Found them in the winter but it's a totally new ball game come summer time. Lol

Nice job David by the way 👍👍 Catching whites on the fly rod is my main goal this summer. My other goal is sturgeon but that's been trying my patience to no end right now. Lol

Hi Stryker2 .. what I do is use a nymph to fish them .. I like the SJW beaded miniature ..then I sight fish them with a indicator about a foot off bottom then when they are in sight distance of hook I will strip it in a bit too move fly in water column if its windy not so much .. if I am straight fly fishing of course I will just strip the fly by them and they will rise up and strike the it..

I always watch for them surface rising too then move to them to get close and anchor and cast

David

Thanks for the advice David, I was thinking chironomids but I will try the beaded hook. That is an awesome photo of the white on the hook!! I'll let you know how it goes )

Black and silver chironomid will also work. The bellies of the two I cleaned were full of everything. They are feeding on pretty much everything after ice off
