Tommy Emmanuel plays in Edmonton usual once a year at the Myer Horowitz theatre at the U Of A. Go see him, he's is truly unbelievable. Considered to be one , if not the best guitarist in the world. |
Spoke with him for a bit when he played a convention I attended a few years back- crazy fact with both hands and a wonderfully free form player.

Since there seems to be a theme on guitar... Just saying I am no rock star or classical master but I have been playing acoustic guitar for 50+ years. The only crowd I ever played in front of were out in the country... and they were grazing.

years ago a friend of mine was telling stories with Fred Eaglesmith on a plane.
He told him about another friend of ours who loved gas engines.
John would sit in his back yard and have a bunch of them in a circle, and start them up, work on them , fix them, and just listen to them.
Later on , Fred Eaglesmith wrote this song and it was about our friend John Lidstone.
Thanks Fred, here's to you John and thanks to you Jim Dorey for giving him the inspiration.
Hope both of you are listening ( R.I.P. both of you)
