Hanna Gun Show, July 16 & 17
Anybody have any experience with this particular show?
It's a small town show, and I've been to some, like Vegreville, but not Hanna.
How does it compare?
Any opinions? Is it worth the drive down from the greater Edmonton area?

Has a nice mix of exhibitors, from Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan. Also a very few of the rusty tin can school of antique sellers in previous years. there have been several volume dealers of new guns in recent years, competitive on price. Lots of ordinary hunting rifles but usually fewer real collectable firearms than the big shows. More reloading supplies like powder is showing up these days.
New organizer this year, after Ron Windsor retired, but a very welcoming Gun Club runs the show. I am sure it will be good.
I will be there with two tables of gun, hunting, adventure and ranch history books.

Sounds good.
I don't need much encouragement for a road trip, so why not?

I think it's a good show. I'll be driving a couple hours to get there.

hanna show
One of the best for small town shows!
I have always enjoyed the Hanna show. Just far enough out of the way that it attracts a few different vendors. Easy going regs for the vendors and purchasers, so that you dont have to beg to get a trigger gaurd removed, and for sure you will find powder on the tables too!!

If I could only go to one show a year, it would be Hanna.

Always a good show in Hanna. I will be there with 2 tables of hunting and firearms books, and a bit of this and that.
I look forward to this show every year.

I've never been to the Hanna show but I've been to a lot of other shows in the last couple of years.
I find that each show is unique and each show offers something no other show offers. Maybe it's one particular gun, or maybe a special atmosphere.
The bottom line for me is, I have never been disappointed by any show.
I guess it depends on one's mindset. If one goes looking for a bargain, that parson may be disappointed at any show. If one goes to see new stuff and to learn and meet interesting people, I don't think they will ever be disappointed.
It helps to keep in mind that these shows cost the organizers and the vendors a lot of money. Everyone has to make a profit or it's not worth doing.
It's business. Business that offers things you can't always get somewhere else.
Gun shows are where inventors and new businesses go to get their start. Before they can afford a property and staff.
At the last show I did there were a couple of knife makers along the lines of the Forged In Fire show. Those guys live and work in a small town so gun shows are a way for them to get their name out there.
I am in that same boat. As are others. Of course there are some big vendors at most shows. There is a bit of something for everyone. If you go with the idea of spending some time looking at neat stuff and talking to knowledgeable people.
But like anywhere, there are some good and some bad. I wish they didn't have to charge for admission. I wish some vendors offered better prices.
But like anywhere, nothing in life is free and nothing is perfect.
