Default Neat find in Guidos Shotgun

I had posted a while ago about getting a couple guns from my Guido. Had the pleasure of shooting both this last fall.
This week coming we will be shooting some skeet. In preparation for that, I went to take the plug out of the Savage 12g. To my surprise it wasn't a factory plug! Someone had whittled a stick to fit, but maybe something happened and it needed to be longer? So a spent .308 was hammered in the end to make up the difference!
The ingenuity of old farmers is quite something!

I had a Remington 11-48 16ga that i had decided to take apart just for fun and found the same deal. A carved piece of wood to act as a mag plug. After I did a little research, i found the real thing didn't look all that different.
