What to use at Winefred?

Group of us heading up to Winefred Lake first week of June. Have never been up there before and was looking for feedback on what to try. Thanks very much for the help

For walleye I have found yellow and black 5 diamonds the best.

Jack will take anything. Tiger colours had been doing good last few times for me.

So many fish it is crazy. I fly fish when there now

We were up there last fall. If you throw anything - it will get bitten.

Crankbaits, Spoons and big ugly rubber tails on a heavy jig head were what we put on the menu and had plenty of customers lined up to eat.

Better call to see if its even open with the fires. Any jig will work for walleyes, I like the chartuse color or white rubber with black head.

For the walleye, bottom bouncers and spinners with original mr twister (has to be unscented) can be dynamite! you'll cover more water and once you find them set a pattern and keep working them over. But have lots of spinners, your gonna loose more then a few to big gators.

they are open for business. Hope the fishing is as good as it was in years past. Its no joke when you say they bite anything. its not a hard lake to fish.

I fish on Christina a bunch which is close to winefred. yellow and red 5 of diamonds or the red and white Dardevle. In size 1 or 2. get about 50feet off the shore or even fish from the shore and you will slay pike almost every cast!

I have caught a walleye using the same set up, but apparently jigs are the ticket for them. haven't personally had much luck with jigs.

Seriously the biggest 5 of Diamonds or Daredevil Len Thompson makes. Works for pike and walleye. The walleye are super aggressive. We had some walleye the same size as the lure. Just bring a few as the big pike will beat up on the hooks. You can see the size of the hook in the one picture.

Just got back from Winefred and we had great luck with Blue/silver Len Thompson spoons and also the silver Blue Fox dimpled spoons. Caught both jacks and walleye on these.

We were catching walleye with giant triple D crank baits ( 9" long ).

These fish were aggressive and didn't hesitate to hit anything you threw at them.

Walleye average sizes were unreal. Never seen anything like it here in Alberta.

There are a few lakes like that in Alberta. When you find them, you keep quiet about them!😇
