Default Registering a non-Registered US Pistol

One of my family members has a beautiful civil war black powder .45 that he bought from the states years ago. He would shoot it up at the farm but since that was sold a few years ago it hasn't gotten any use & he isn't interested in getting his FAC.

If I bought that gun would it be difficult to register, or would I run into any legal troubles?

If it is an actual antique and not a newer reproduction it does not have to be registered.

You would be best served by calling the CFC in regards to this....

I would say check with the NFA. The CFC tends to screw things up at times. As said earlier, you most likely will not need a licence or register it.

I am going to find out first if it is an actual antique or a repro...
