Default Rifle Wrap

Could wrapping my a sheet(white) to blend it with the snow cause the barrel to overheat quickly? or cause any other problems, i thought perhaps my scopes adjustments, but ive cut everything that was tight around them away and theres nothing blocking bold, mag, action, trigger or anything, just i have it wrapped around my barrel, wondering if it will cause it to overheat?

Anyone know whether or not it will?

How many shots are you planning on taking, if your trying to hide your obviously not at the range. What are you hunting? A few shots won't matter, especially in the winter.

Unless the sheet is wrapped 3" thick, dipped in kerosene, and lit on fire... . I can't imagine 2-3 shots having any overheating issues. I would go for it man.

There will be no over heating issues with that setup.

if it gets wet, having moisture on the metal for a few hours, my guess is that you will end up with rust spots.
keeping it till the end of the season would not be my choice.

Could possibly alter your barrel vibration, affecting accuracy. My theory and I've never been disproven over 40 years, is that coyotes and other critters aren't Mensa candidates. By the time he get's close enough to possibly spot wood and steel, he'll be rug material.

White vet wrap works great. It's easily removed, leaves no residue, and can be re-used.

Wrapping the stock and the barrel together may cause you accuracy issues.

Try wrapping the barrel and the stock seperatley possibly adding little effect to the barrel harmonics.

I've never had a problem if the fore-end is wrapped loosely.

See that word MAY

That is to mean it might not happen to every rifle or in every single circumstance, wrap your barrel too tight to the stock and see what that MAY get you for accuracy.

What's the big issue? It's only a suggestion based on a few instances where I've had to de-bug a bad tape up job for a couple fellows

Remember just because it works for you, does'nt mean it MAY for every rifle out there.

I'd sooner take the least obtrusive approach, than try and figure out if it's the wrap job, or something else gone awry....But as usual YMMV.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers. I'm sure most guys don't wrap their guns like a hockey stick.

Tape your stock lengthwise and wrap your barrel. Be sure to use that athletic foam wrap or you're gonna have a bitch of a time getting the tape off.

i just used a sheet.... wrapped tightly and wrapped it thick in one spot, thats the spot where i glued the end of my sheet strip to the gun(well to the sheet layers already on the gun)

It works fine, comes off no problem at all...

Like grizz said, i never saw a coyote with binos looking for different shades at 100yards. I have seen lots of them get shot by guys with work clothes on hiding in brush though.
