Default Snow shovel wear strips

I've got one of those show shovels from CanTire with a chartreuse wear strip. The strip is worn down.
It actually wore out a couple of years ago and I replaced it with a piece of a stainless steel metre stick that I picked up at a yard sale. It worked but not that well as the metal tends to catch on the concrete sidewalk. Anyway, the metal wear strip is now worn out and needs replacement.

CanTire does not sell wear strips. Obviously, there is more money in selling shovels than there is in selling wear strips.

So, has anyone here made a wear strip for their snow shovel? What material did you use? How did it work? Thanks in advance.

Puck board works well. Grind it on an angle and you’re good to go.

I used a strip of 1/4” plexiglass I salvaged from some CoVid barriers the store down the road was throwing out. Cut it with a router and grind it on an angle with a flapper disc. Pre drill the holes before attaching to the shovel and bobs your uncle.

The whole shovel is a wear strip.
I'm still using a plastic shovel that I used in high-school 20 years ago.
Sure, it's not as tall any more, but it works better than any shovel I've bought since.

Have in the past used aluminum trim as a wear strip.

I used a piece of wood. No need to cut an angle - the cement does that job fairly quickly.

I grind the rivets off the metal strip and remove it lol. I have a gravel driveway and lots of 2X6 deck surface to shovel. It suits my purpose better to have no wear strip (doesn't wear away my deck)

I have a plastic shovel with no strip for the deck, and a steel bladed shovel for my driveway/sidewalk. I swear every time I have to use the plastic shovel with wear strip at the range, because it flexes too much to remove hard snow.

When putting on a new wear strip don’t forget to recalibrate the shovel or you will have a odd shovel pattern.

Get the wife to take it into the local hardware store to get it done.

Don’t be home when she returns!
