The first Friday the 13th pretty much scared the crap out of me when I seen it for the first time. Nightmare On Elm St was good too.

My favorite is still John Carpenter's original Halloween. "The night HE came home" Just seems like the perfect movie to watch on Halloween.

Evil dead II is a good movie that leads into the amazing Army of Darkness.

For a book, Dean Koontz: "Intensity"

Most horror movies don't scare me.

But, when I was a teenager, I watched Rosemary's Baby at the repertory theater on Halloween.
I slept with my desk lamp on that night.

John Carpenter's version still stands on its own two feet. The new one (prequel-ish) is pretty good, but I still prefer the original. If you ever get a chance to read the book do it. Written by another John - John Campbell.
