Default Ice Reports

Heading to Long Lake by Boyle, I am guessing ice conditions are still good. Was anyone fishing today? I am expecting to get a sun tan tomorrow. DF

The ice will definitely be good, but I noticed that there was lots of surface water on the ponds west of Edmonton. Can anybody relay some big water reports?

Thanks!

Still snow on ice at fallis as of today. Almost needed my auger extension. Ice is still rock solid but a 4x4 is going to be a must right away as the launch is rutting up quickly

The water will disappear as the ice cracks. As it gets colder next week it should make some nice noise again. Otherwise fine.

Flood water is going to be a problem with areas in southern Alberta, Rattlesnake is slushing up with LOTS of flood water, ice is still good and should stay that way for the long weekend if you can deal with all the water. Truck said it was +16 today!

Lots of open water on the lakes near us. Enough to get the fly rod out. Hopefully get some nice bows out of Lake X Saturday.

What a bunch of B.S. Sorry all but this weather comes every year...just earlier than usual. Put on you big boy pants and get out and check if for yourselves. The best ice report is the one you give yourself on the weekend as most people work during the week.

Edit: And I mean central like Gull, Pigeon, Sylvan, etc. I'm sure the lakes down south are a different risk...
I'll report back on Gull and Pigeon this weekend.

No flood water or slush on Thursday, ice is solid and 30" thick. Great day to get out.

FWIW, I called a former colleague in Slave and asked about the ice. Minimal flood water as temps are freezing at night. Recommended not going on at Widewater or Canyon as there are a bunch of cracks in the area that are opening and closing as the ice shifts. Recommended a quad for that reason.

Hope that helps.

What an ignorant thing to say, this forum is all about sharing information. If someone has been too a certain lake why not share lake info. I would.

That is fine when the info is true.

I'll be headed there this weekend and will report back myself. I had a buddy who was just there and reported great ice conditions - not 2 feet of water....
Do you have any reports from actually being there yourself to support a claim of 2 feet of water on the ice?
