little black rubber piece that was attached to string ripped apart anybody know what that little black piece would be? no damage to bow or string just that little piece it almost sounded like a cap gun when ripped apart.

I'm no expert but I think you might have bigger issues than the little rubber thingy. Did you inspect the limbs with magnifying glass for hairline cracks? I sure hope nothing else is wrong!!! Other people will be of much more help than me.

Let the guys at jimbows check it out first. The rubber piece is a string grub. Easily replaced, that's the least of your worries.

There is a legend around my place: if anyone touches my bow, a massive grizzly paw drops from the sky and slaps the offender into next Tuesday.

But seriously, a cable lock, threaded around the cables and through the d-loop stops this kind of problem. Every year we hear stories dry fired bows, completely unnecessary.

X4 ...even though a dry fired bow looks ok it can have a varity of issues...micro cracks, warped limbs, cupped cams, damaged string tracking on cams/idler wheels etc ...if it had the energy to blow off a string grub that energy travelled thru everything on limb tips...
