skinning coyotes the proper way.
For the last many years all the coyotes ive shot ive just left in the field but this year I started skinning them out again. My problem is Ive never had anyone show me how to do it properly. Ive read lots of threads on here and have imitated what most guys are doing but Id still like to see instructions how to get the most for my dogs I skin. Ive got boards and my skinning is good, its even got better since I started using the air compressor to seperate the hide. But would like to see a proper detailed way of putting my coyotes up.
thanks

Watch some of 5911ryan's videos on youtube. There are several other demos on there by other people as well.
I'd like to try that air compressor trick.

I had trouble pulling the hide down on a few so I tired the compressor. made a small cut at the top leg when hanging from my hoist and stuck the nozel and puffed it rite up. You could hear the hide seperating.
Ive watched lots of his videos, hes good. Is there an easier way to remove the cartlidge from the ear. I read about a screw driver trick but not sure how that works.

I used pliers to separate the ear cartilage as shown in Ryan's videos but I found that I was ripping the ear apart. I know that it doesn't much matter value wise but I decided to take a bit more time and take the cartilage off with my thumbs. I cut under the cartilage for about 1/2" and then I work on separating it to the top of the ear on one side and then down the other side to the bottom. It might take a minute of two longer but I have a lot fewer ripped ears doing it that way.

Saw a YouTube video with the screwdriver method today. Looks pretty slick. Guy did it on a grey fox.

Save time and don't bother with the ears! As long as they are shipped to the next sale they won't have time to slip. It will not affect grade whatsoever. If you hang on to the pelts for longer it is a good idea to pull the cartilage.

I've been watching this guys videos on Youtube, he does a pretty good job of explaining everything. He breaks the process down to 3 videos for each critter, skinning, fleshing, and boarding. It might be worth a look.
