something I learned on one of the vet shows on the tube ( Dr. Pol I think )is that the skunk spray carries a chemical that destroys the dogs red blood cells. If not treated it could kill the dog. So if your dog gets a good shot of skunk spray I would be going in to see a vet for blood tests. If someone knows about this better than I maybe they could post.

There’s only been 1 reported cases in the literature and 2 cases in the ASPCA toxicology database, pertaining to the development of Heinz body anemia in dogs after exposure to skunk spray. Additionally, there was only 107 cases reported in a 10 yr period of domestic dogs / cats developing mild clinical signs after skunk spray ( mostly eye irritation) ... no need to panic

meh! Ain't nothing new, I once ran off a cougar after returning from a 3 week pack trip. All I wanted was a couple of beers before finding some clean clothes and a shower.

I was waiting for the skunk to turn his butt towards the cat to spray him but he didn't from what I saw... isn't that how they repel perceived threats?

What amazes me is that the cat ran from the skunk but could care less about the vehicle. They simply seem to have no fear of humans. Perhaps we should take a pet skunk with us while hunting.
