Default Becoming a Snowbird

Is there any Snowbirds out there that go to Arizona or California for the winter. Bought a new truck and travel trailer in September. We are going across Canada next summer and thinking about going to U.S for winter next year. Any recommendations on where to go in U.S for winter. Thanks.

Not a snowbird, but everyone I have talked to about it says..

"Your destination depends on what you want to do, and the type of person you are."

My parents spent 6-7 years finding a location that suited them, They are social, VERY active, yet frugal. They would spend each winter at a different spot (yuma/mesa/Palm springs/etc), and ended up at Mesa.

Some snowbirds like to do nothing, as in, just go south, and veg, just to say "they went south" (not saying there's anything wrong with that). It's just that each location is different, has a different Vibe, etc. As well, it is dependent on the resort you stay at.

Maybe define your "wants" and people can help out abit more.

My parents snowbirded in Yuma for many years, they bought a trailer and left it down there. Later they moved to Lake Havesu because there's less crime and a more retired crowd, lots of swap meets and other activities like fishing, golfing. If you go down during Feb. there's a huge meet at Quartizite lots of bands and attractions the whole desert is covered in campers. A tip for dry camping down there is to go to a swap meet buy an Arizona plate to put over your trailer plate at night the criminals will think your local and might have a gun.

Thinking of doing that, VRBO 3-4 months at a time until we find the best spot or just keep going somewhere else.

Ive not gone to the same place twice

If you party, Mexico.

If you wanna sleep in, walk, fart and read the paper, eat supper and be in bed by 10, Palm Springs

Florida. Aka “Gods Waiting Room”

California? Sign me up. The only place I would stay permanently.

Id give up hunting forever to live there.

Been two winters now. Weather doesn't really get super nice until later January so further south is better. Mexico. Or Yuma. Yuma has likely 100 snowbird spots, all with lots of activities, things to do, and exploring the desert is awesome look for some gold, donkeys, find the river so some fishing etc. Quartzite is awesome during there festival, lots of good folks, good music and good places for a cold beer. Palm Springs is beautiful BEAUTIFUL. But expensive. Bring lots of US$$$ cause you'll need it. El Centro has tons of desert, good folks and lots to do as well, can't go wrong, and cheaper than Palm Springs by a long shot. Lake Havesu getting kinda crowded, we stop in at Bullhead City now, hit over to Laughlin a few times etc it's a good stop. Anyway lots to do and lots of things to see. We like to hit the warm weather then slowly move north as it gets too warm for us....

Grandparents were snowbirds for the better part of a decade until recently. They went all over, but spent most of their time in Yuma where they really liked it. They're more of the "relax and enjoy the peace" type of folks, and made tons of friends from all over when they were there.

After my summer vacation with my family. I really like Idaho. Less crackheads than B.C. Less liberals than B.C and still have the 4 seasons. Arizona, Cali I don't know if I could do the heat all the time.
