you would be surprized
how much gunk can get into an old shotgun. You wouldnt think the tiny firing pin hole on the face or the trigger assembly hole would allow much dirt and debris but it does. I have had to take apart a few older Berettas from the 60's and 70's by removing the stock and actually soaking the whole receiver once detached in solvent. old oil gels attracting powder and even bits of plastic which I have to assume are the tiny pieces that detach from the hull when the crimp opens. Every action I have taken apart is built like a sherman tank but put a bunch of gunk in the action so the firing pin cannot move freely and you have a soft hit.
